Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The central protein under investigation for this project in plants, is highly conserved from yeast to human. Recent studies in other organisms have identified new protein interactors - also conserved in plants- and mechanisms. To significantly advance the project, such orthologues proteins were integrated in the existing research plan and are investigated in the context of parent of origin memory, which remains unique for any organism.

Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
My employment changed from postdoc to PI. After a pause in my laboratory experiments of over half a year, the establishment of my own laboratory is underway.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The initial plan was to investigate the role of DRE2 outside reproductive phase, in vegetative cells where the understanding of the biochemical function could be facilitated eventually. Using the new developments mentioned above together with results from a parallel project, more direct approaches can now be used to address the mechanism of parent of origin memory for DRE2. Should these prove unsuccessful in the near future, I will revert to original plan.

Causes of Carryover |
Since my laboratory did not function for a proportion of the time, only a promotion of funding was spend.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
I plan to use the funds carried over in the next year to perform the planned research.
