Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the current study, we elucidated the patho-mechanism of low back pain and joint pain in elderly patients or animal models with osteoporosis or sarcopenia or osteoarthritis. Several molecules including inflammatory cytokines, various growth factors and pain-related molecules were observed in osteoporotic bone marrow, high aged muscle tissue and synovial tissue in osteoarthritis joints. In addition, multiple nerve fibers with pain-related molecules in osteoporotic vertebral body were observed. These findings might be related with pain in elderly patients.
