Outline of Final Research Achievements

This is a basic study which explores a piano accompaniment method useful for training skills of accompanists, teachers, and nursery school teachers in the making. The study focused on dynamics, and researched the piano accompaniment by accompanists living in Japan. The results are as follows: (1) when accompanist’s piano is analyzed, the peak of song’s phrases and the beat just before the peak are stressed; (2) when the volume of a song gradually increases (i.e., crescendo), the piano accompaniments begin the crescendo after the starting point of the crescendo leads to drop in volume; (3) when we compare the accompaniments by professional performers with the ones by armatures, the dynamic range of the former is wider; (4) the professional performer’s playing basically fits the volume of the music to the tone of the words of the song.
