Outline of Annual Research Achievements

水平解像度120km、鉛直解像度550m、モデル上端47kmにして、研究初年度に実験を完了したMIROC気候モデルデータを用いて、赤道準2年振動(QBO)の現在気候における再現性と、温暖化気候における変化、及び季節予報精度についての解析を継続して行った。
更にQBO気候モデル国際比較プロジェクト(QBOi)に参加している世界中の気候モデルを集めた、研究代表者のモデルはQBOiプロジェクトの中で、非定常重力波パラメタリゼーションを用いずともQBOを再現している唯一なモデルである為、マルチモデル比較の中で同パラメタリゼーションの不確実性を取り除いたQBO研究が唯一可能な仕様となる。
研究代表者はQBOiプロジェクトの主要メンバーとして、関連する研究者と定期的なテレビ会議を継続し、最初の論文が出版され(Butchart et al. 2018)、更にQBOモデル再現性比較、温暖化時のQBOi変化、赤道域大気波動の再現性、QBOを介した遠隔影響の評価、QBOの季節予報可能性、に関する5本の国際共同論文の執筆を開始した。温暖化時のQBO変調について、下部成層圏で振幅が弱くなることは全てのモデルで見られ、申請者の先行研究(Kawatani et al. 2011, 2012, 2013)と整合的であった。一方で温暖化時のQBO周期はモデル間相違が大きく、重力波パラメタリゼーションの扱いに強く依存することが分かった。QBO季節予報再現性は、同パラメタリゼーションのチューニングをし、現実的なQBO周期を再現しているモデルほど良いこと、またQBO東風位相より西風位相を初期値とした方が再現性が良いモデルが多いことが判明した。
