Research Abstract

2004年度以来の5年間に本特別推進研究は大きな成果を上げた。当初の計画に掲げた解決すべき計画目標に対し, 予想を大きく上回る世界的成果を上げることができた。
2008年度にも多くの成果をあげた。理論では位相空間の乱雑揺動成分(granulations)の統計力学的定式化へと方法論を拡充し、ドリフト波が励起するストリーマー(ドリフト波が伝播方向に収束する現象)と帯状流の競合を研究し、帯状流を介在とした非拡散的輸送現象(輸送のシーソー機構)の提案を行い、非拡散的輸送現象理解の基礎を新たに提示した。シミュレーションでは、大域的機構の研究を推進し、局所的な線形安定性ではなく大域的な揺動ダイナミックスが支配する輸送障壁の形成や崩壊の過程を明らかにした。さらに、直線装置でのストリーマーの観測の予言を行い、ストリーマーの発見を先導した。実験では、ストリーマーを直線プラズマで発見し、ドリフト波揺動との非線形結合過程を定量的に観測する事に成功した。また、揺動による帯状流励起機構を定量的に観測する事にも成功した。これらを始め世界初の実験成果を上げた。
2008年度は研究のとりまとめ期であり、数多くの論文や国際的招待講演で発信した他、特別推進研究発足以来の研究成果を'Areview of zonal flow experiments', Nucl. Fusion 49(2009)013001(42pp)始めいくつかのレビュー論文にまとめた。プラズマ乱流を体系的に記述する学術書第一巻(非線形プラズマ統計物理学)としてPhysical Kinetics of Turbulent Plasmasを執筆し、完成原稿をCambridge University Pressに渡し印刷段階にはいった。以上、本特別推進研究は5年間に世界的な成果を数多く上げ、乱流プラズマ物理学を体系的に展開し、新領域を開拓し世界の研究潮流を主導する事が出来た。
