Research Abstract

本特定領域の下、観測、実験、シミュレーショングループの連携により、スタグナントスラブの滞留と落下のメカニズム及びその地学的意義についての理解が飛躍的に進んだ。計画期間中に、観測からはマントル深部に沈み込むスラブの地震学的・電磁気学的形状と微細構造が明らかになった。高温高圧実験からはマントル遷移層物質の様々な物性が明らかになった。計算機シミュレーションからはスラブの滞留と落下の条件及びスラブ沈み込みに伴う水の挙動がかなり明らかになった。これらの成果を統合してスラブの沈み込みからマントル最下部への沈澱に到るまでの1つのシナリオを得た。
