Research Abstract |
1990's was a decade where Japan started to experience troubled economy. This decade is thus described as "lost 10 years". To cope with unexpected situations under the troubled economy, important laws were amended or newly introduced. A fundamental question however was how to share the information on these laws with users outside of Japan. We decided to launch a research project to provide global users with sufficient information on Japanese law. To create a website was taken as a useful tool, focusing on the fields of law related to international commerce. The project website contains "Overview", "Legislation and Regulations" and "Court Cases", which contains 1,001 important judgments in English. Also the project website provides with explanations on fundamental issues in each field. In addition to the creation and management of the website, this research group has organized several symposia on cross-cutting issues of comparative law, identifying specificities of Japanese law.
