Research Abstract |
The objective of this study is to develop social technologies for restoration and reclamation of illegal dumping sites. Especially, this study developed the following tools that are required to actually discuss on restoration and reclamation methods of the contaminated sites. 1) Development of a management tool of illegal dumping cases to analyze and clarify social backgrounds of illegal dumpings, liability issues, transportation roots of waste materials, etc. 2) Development of a multi communication tool using homepage to promote restoration and reclamation of illegal dumping sites. Development of a needs analysis method for land usage after restoration of illegal dumping sites. 3) Development of multi-criteria decision analytic process using ANP (analytic network process) and fuzzy method considering both technical and social criteria. 4) Development of a numerical simulation method for prediction of restoration effectiveness. The following results were obtained. 1)A management tool that is

able to deal with and analyze illegal dumping cases comprehensively was developed. 2)A multi communication tool using homepage was proposed and applied to actual problems on information service at an illegal dumping site. As a result, the tool provided appropriate information according to social needs, and had an effect on providing public awareness on problems of the illegal dumping site. A needs analysis method was proposed to investigate land usage after restoration of illegal dumping sites by questionnaire investigation. 3)A comprehensive decision analysis method using fuzzy methods and ANP was developed for complex problems such as selection of restoration and reclamation alternatives. 4)A numerical simulation method was developed for prediction of restoration effectiveness by vertical walls, capping and anaerobic bioremediation. Based on actual case study of illegal dumping sites, this study developed a social technology for effective restoration and reclamation of illegal dumping sites, integrating both technical and social aspects.
