Research Abstract

The aims of this study are the development of a novel small diameter artificial blood vessel using elastin matrix for treatment of vessel disease. In 2004 (first year), the cell cultured dish and elastic-sheet for the dynamic cell culture were prepared. And in 2005 (second year), the adhesion properties was researched as the reactions of blood wall-cells for these materials. In 2006 (final year), the differentiation property of smooth muscle cells on the elastin-matrix was researched.
The smooth muscle cells, endocrinal cells and fibroblast cells were evaluated on the elastic-sheets, in results, the important information was taken as the acceleration of differentiation of smooth muscle cells and the inhibition of proliferation by elastin materials. In this study, we concluded that elastin matrix was the suitable material for remodeling of elastomeric-artery under dynamic cell culture conditions.
