Research Abstract |
The purpose of this project was mainly to study high-school mathematics and their curriculum. Every year from 2004 to 2006, the work shops on the study of high-school mathematics were held at the Gakushuin University twice a year, in summer and winter. There were about 80 participants in each work shop. At the work shops, 1. The national curriculum guidelines was studied." how should it be? Reports of surveys. 2. New subject "Fundamentals of Math" was studied; especially the available contents were selected and studied in detail. And report of its teaching. 3. Usage of computers in mathematical education was studied. For example, new software for geometry was introduced and studied. 4. Statistics in high-school mathematics was studied. Each year, articles which were studied and discussed in the work shops were edited in a journal "Study of Mathematical Education".
