Research Abstract |
Actual things have their limitation in time and space. Therefore, man has tried to understand the meaning of the limitation of them regardless of east and west from various methods. The aim of this research is to clarify the meaning of the limitation in western, oriental, and Japanese philosophy, and in the history of science. The members engaged in this research have examined the problem how "limitation" is understood in the above-mentioned various fields by last year. The results were made public as "the Limited and the Unlimited" (Tohyama, A.(ed), Mie University Press) at the end of last year. In this year, we investigated how the results of the last two years are related to each other. We held seminars by the pace once a month, in which the result that each researcher had gotten by last year was examined, and understanding of "limitation" in each field was deepened further. Articles " Evolutionary Theory and the Age of Darwin ", "Platonic Definition of Death and Brain Death" and so on were made public by each researcher in this year.
