Research Abstract |
We investigated for two companies, JPR and NPP which are serving the nationwide pallet rental. The items of survey are the rental means of the pallet, the number of business bases and the work in the facilities. Based on these results of an investigation, the pallet rental system was modeled as a Network. Nodes are the depots of the pallet rental, the production plant of the pallet, and consumer places, and links is the transportation between nodes. Moreover, it formulized as an optimization problem in consideration of an inventory of a pallet so that not only transportation cost but the storage charges of the pallet in each node could be taken into consideration. The following three examination was performed as measures for reducing the cost of the pallet rental companies using this model. (1)The reduced costs by standardization of a quality By guaranteeing a quality, we estimated about the effect of the reduced costs when not dividing the same pallet into classification by industry. Consequently, when three items could be collected to one item, it turned out that an inventory cost is reducible about 13%. (2)The reduced costs by concentration of the depots We estimated about the reduced costs by expanding the collection-and-delivery area of depots. Consequently, when the collection-and-delivery area was expanded by 3 times, it turned out that an inventory cost is reducible about 19%. (3)The reduced costs by shortening the drying time of the pallet We examined the cost performance of shortening of the drying time by using the pallet of plastics. Consequently, it turned out that an inventory cost is reducible about 21%.
