Research Abstract |
The synthesis of electrically conductive fine oxide particles and its application to the electrocatalyst for the anode of solid oxide fuel cells have been investigated. The delafossite oxide, PdCoO_2, was obtained by heating the precipitate precursors from PdCl_2 and CoCl_2 with an aqueous NaOH. The specific valence states of the metallic ions allowed methane to easily react on the surface of these electrocatalyst particles with the oxide ions transported through the oxide electrolytes. This effect is expected to enhance the electrochemical oxidation of methane for the Ni_<1-X>Co_X-electrolyte (yttria- or ceria-based) cermet anode.
