Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、環境ふく射による赤外光を吸収し、高効率な光電変換(赤外光-電気)を可能とするシート型創エネルギーデバイスを開発する。高い移動度を持つグラフェンにナノ加工を施し、赤外光に対するアンテナとして動作させつつ、そのアンテナに形状異方性を持たせつつ電荷の動きにも異方性を持たせたデバイスを作成する。ふく射光のエネルギーはアンテナ内に集中し強く局在した電荷振動を生じるが、このときの電荷の動きに異方性を持たせることで、整流作用を持たせて電流を創出することも可能と予想される。異方性をもつグラフェン構造がそのような高速動作が可能なダイオード的な構造として動作可能かどうかを検証し、これを足がかりに、原子レベルの創エネルギーデバイスの可能性を探究する。さらに、このような基礎物性と機能性の検証と並行して、狭帯域な赤外光源や光検出器としての応用も広く検討し、フレキシブルデバイスも視野に入れつつ新たなデバイスの実証を目指す。

Reason

本研究では、ホスト研究室のプラズモニックデバイス・ナノデバイスの製作技術と、特別研究員の持つ計測技術・解析技術と合成技術とを効果的に組み合わせ、中赤外・遠赤外光を利用した創エネルギーデバイスの開発研究を行う。昨年度に引き続き、本年度はグラフェンのサブミクロンスケール加工を進め、それを用いたデバイスを幾つか製作し、その技術を利用した実験も進めた。例えば、Siナノピラー構造と合わせた表面増強ラマン散乱の研究の論文発表を行った。また、グラフェンマイクロ構造を、金属ミラー層と組み合わせて吸収率を増大させたデバイスを設計し、デバイスの製作プロセスを検討した。また、グラフェン以外の材料を検討し、導電性酸化物や、半金属ナノ薄膜の製作も開始した。進捗としては、概ね妥当なレベルではないかと考えられる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今年度はグラフェンを用いたマイクロデバイスの製作に具体的に着手した。今後はレーザー加工技術の精度を高め、形状の異方性制御を通して中赤外光・遠赤外光を電気へと変換する構造の製作へと進める。金属ー絶縁体ーグラフェン構造を製作し、吸収率を高めたアンテナ構造の設計を完了し、その製作を実施する。その後、異方性を持たせたレクテナ構造へと製作を進め、金属電極とグラフェン構造とのコンタクト技術を確立する。並行して、AuやAlを用いた波長選択型赤外線センサーの製作も進めており、ここで開発した金属パターニング技術を用いて、グラフェン上に金属ナノアンテナを製作し、このナノアンテナで集めた光エネルギーを近接場効果を利用して効率的に異方性グラフェンデバイスへと送る方式の検討を進める。
