Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The analysis of data from Shizuoka was continued. IC Card data and data from a previously conducted survey among older people in Shizuoka were both used. Trip frequency and usage frequency of bus stops of elderly people were extracted from the IC card data. From the survey trip purposes were extracted as well as satisfaction with travel and general Quality-of-Life (QoL). Further, graphic illustrations of distribution of connections between living places, travel satisfaction and quality of life were shown. Then various analysis were conducted showing a connection between QoL, travel patterns and some infrastructure aspects, such as bus stop density. One paper has been submitted to an international conference. Another paper is in progress. Besides this main study, activities such as analysis of Korean data regarding satisfaction with public transport were conducted.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The research is progressing ok, though due to personal circumstances the project has been paused for three months last fiscal year. Instead it is now extended for three months to end of January 2019. It is expected that the planned outcomes can be achieved by then.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In this fiscal year the above data analysis will be continued. In particular the role of subsidised public transport tickets on travel patterns of elderly will be continued. One focus will be on utilising the panel characteristic of the data to understand the changes in travel patterns with progressive aging.
