Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project focused on the system and development process of in-center continuous professional development and its determinants, such as the nature of leadership in ECEC settings (relationship between the director, head, and colleagues), and clarified and modeled the process by which leadership influences the learning process of Early childhood education and care professionals and the improvement of quality in ECEC. The book titled “Deepening the learning process: Creating more enriched ECEC settings through on-site training"　was published. It is based on the views from the analysis of in-house training cases and surveys and research. We also considered the organizational learning process model of expertise, identified the expertise required for the leadership of directors and chiefs involved in in-school training, identified the expertise of directors and chiefs, and developed training resources and tools useful for in-house training, and published four booklets.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

園内研修における保育者の学習過程を園の研修のあり方や園長のリーダーシップとの関係において実証的に明らかにし、モデル化をはかった研究はこれまでになく、当該領域において研修の質やその発展の過程について、組織学習の視点から明らかにした点が学術的意義である。またその研究成果を学術図書や論文にまとめるだけではなく、実際の園での研修に活用できるように４冊のブックレットにまとめ電子的に全国に配布するなど知見に基づくあうとリーチ活動を行うことで、実際に各園がそのリーフレットを参考にした研修実施を行うなどの社会的影響力を持ったことが、社会的意義ということができる。
