Outline of Annual Research Achievements

メキシコ、チリ、台湾、ニュージーランド、カナダ、米国など様々な地域の地震データを収集分析し、ゆっくり地震の比較研究を進めた。世界の群発地震について開発した検出システムを東北沖の限られた領域に適用し、群発地震活動が一定の予測可能性を持つことを明らかにした。すべり速度弱化とすべり速度強化の2つの性質からなる単純な数理モデルによって、前震や余震の活動の定量的特徴が説明できることを明らかにした。これまでに開発してきた確率微分方程式によるブラウン運動ゆっくり地震モデルの2次元拡張を行った。2次元の確率的セルオートマトンによって、数学的には1次元の確率微分方程式のモデルとほぼ等価なモデルが作成できることを示した。これにより、時間空間的なゆっくり地震の比較研究が可能になる。
ゆっくり地震の脆性塑性不均質断層モデルを連続弾性体内に配置した系において、脆性パッチの空間分布と滑り弱化パラメタの依存性を系統的に調べた。その結果、ゆっくり地震の発生様式がマイグレーションを起こす場合と起こさない場合に二分されることが分かった。O(N logN)コストの破壊伝播シミュレーション手法であるFDP=H-matricesを用いて、動力学を考慮した順問題を多数解くことによって断層摩擦特性を逆問題的に求める手法について検討した。
地球回転運動の一つの様式である極運動が、プレート境界に及ぼす応力変化を見積もる手法を開発し、ゆっくり地震の発生と大気圧・海底圧力・極運動等の外力による応力変化との相関を調べる際に、年周変化の帯域では極運動の影響が無視できないことを示した。また、上記の外力に対する固体地球の変形を、弾性構造の不均質性を考慮する手法を開発し、予備的な計算を行った。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

データの収集及び管理のために以下を実施する。(1)すでに確立した日本(主にHi-net, DONET, S-net, F-net)、メキシコ、チリ、ニュージーランド、台湾、アメリカ、カナダの定常観測データを更新する。(2)新しいデータとして、メキシコ、チリ、台湾、ニュージーランドの臨時観測データを導入、品質評価する。
以下の項目についてデータ解析と理論研究を進める。
(1A)ゆっくり地震の断層メカニズムを推定し、プレート境界形状と活動の統計的性質を調べる。パークフィールドと台湾の低周波地震に適用する。(1B)微動からスロースリップまでの超広帯域スペクトル計算手法を改良し、西南日本およびカスケード地域に適用する。(1C)東日本のプレート境界地震をS-netの海底地震計を用いて分析する手法を開発する。(1D)グローバルな巨大地震について地震すべりの不均質性解析手法と高精度震源決定のアルゴリズムについての研究成果をまとめる。(2A)潮汐と微動活動からプレート境界の摩擦法則を推定する手法を台湾とチリの臨時観測を含む新しいデータに対して適用する。(2B)東日本のプレート境界地震の固有性と階層性を定量化する。(2C)階層性破壊モデルにおける階層破壊の連鎖確率と地震活動パラメターの理論的関係を明らかにする。(3A)潮汐等の外力による載荷の時間変化がゆっくり地震の超広帯域スペクトルに及ぼす影響を検討する。(3B)東日本のプレート境界地震とプレート内部地震の予測可能性の違いを定性的に明らかにする。
研究成果は適宜学術論文として公表するとともに、日本地球惑星科学連合大会、国際地球物理学測地学連合学術大会、米国地球惑星物理学会などで公表し議論する。
