Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は形態研究では、松村が先史人骨など一次資料を採取することを目的として、インドネシアでのグアハリマウ遺跡の継続調査、ならびにベトナムのバウドゥ遺跡の発掘調査を実施した。グアハリマウ遺跡からは数体の4500年前の先住狩猟民の埋葬人骨を、バウドゥ遺跡の貝塚からは6000年前の人骨の発見にいたっている。これらの人骨は新石器時代にはじまる稲作農耕以前の段階の集団であり、この地域における人類集団の二層構造のうちの基層集団に相当し、現代のオーストラリア先住民やパプア集団と同じ系譜に属するグループであることが頭骨形態データから解明されつつある。海部は、アジア東南部の一角として琉球列島に注目し、海を越えてこの島々へ拡散した初期ホモ・サピエンスの来歴に迫るため、沖縄島で出土している人骨資料の調査を開始した。また「アフリカから東部アジアへのホモサピエンスの拡散は5万年前より古いという説は、根拠となる遺跡の年代や帰属においてどれも信頼に値するものではない」との検証結果を、ドイツで行なわれた初期ホモ・サピエンスの拡散についての国際シンポジウムで発表し、好意的に受け入れられた。
遺伝関係では、上記のインドネシアとベトナムの先史遺跡出土の人骨からDNA分析用の試料を採取し分析をおこなっている。またフィリピンのバタン島から出土した5000年前の人骨の分析も実施しており、東南アジアでの古い起源をもつハプロタイプが検出されている。斎藤は現代人集団のゲノム解析をおこなっており、アンダマン諸島、マレー半島、フィリピン諸島散在するネグリト集団について、ゲノム規模SNPデータを比較解析した。その結果、彼らネグリト人はパプアニューギニアやオーストラリアに移動したサフール人と系統的に近いことが明らかになった。またネグリト人のなかで、ルソン島に居住するアエタはデニソワ人からの遺伝子移入の割合がもっとも高く検出された。

Reason

単年度でインドネシアとベトナムでの計２遺跡の発掘調査を実施でき、貴重な先史人骨の発見にいたったことは大きな成果である。このことにより、当初に描いた仮説のとおりアジアにおいて系譜が大きく異なる２グループのホモサピエンスが移住してきたことが明確になりつつある。また拡散年代においても５万年以上は遡らないとする仮説の検証がすすみ、この説が海外でも支持されつつある。ゲノム研究においてはネグリトがアジアに拡散した初期のホモサピエンスから分岐した集団であること、フィリピンのネグリトに旧人のグループでデニソア人との混血が最も大きくみられたことは大変興味深い新知見である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

ベトナムのバウドゥ遺跡とスマトラ島のグアハリマウ遺跡の調査は継続し、大陸と島嶼部の両地域への初期ホモ・サピエンスの拡散パターンを解明する。また昨年度に沖縄地方で始めた人骨調査をさらに広げ、ウォーラシア地域も視野に入れた形態調査を行なう。遺伝関係ではこれらの先史人骨のミトコンドリアDNAの解析の成功が期待される。一方の現代人ではデニソア人の遺伝子がみいだされたアエタネグリト10名について全ゲノム配列を決定し、解析をはじめる予定である。アフリカとアジアとの関係を解明するためのアフリカ人集団の形態データも順次収集する予定である。
