Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have built the “Nikkan Kaidan Bunsyo Joho Kokai Archives” that serves as a search system for Japanese documents related to Japan-Korea normalization negotiations and released it on the website of the NGO “Nikkan Kaidan Bunsyo no Zenmenkoukai wo Motomeru Kai (The Citizen’s Group for Full Disclosure of Japan-ROK Normalization Documents)” in March 2020.
In addition, we have expanded the field of Japan-South Korea relations beyond state-to-state diplomatic relations to include such aspects as colonial rule/war experiences and memories, places where people and goods collide while they come and go, and intellectual exchange and reflection, re-examined them in the context of colonialism and the Cold War, and published the findings in the book titled The Japan-South Korea relations from the perspective of colonialism and the Cold War.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日韓会談文書の検察システム「日韓会談文書情報公開アーカイブズ」を構築しWEB上で公開することによって、研究者や市民が日韓会談文書を利用しやすくなった。また、従来の日韓関係研究が国家対国家の外交関係研究に集中する傾向があったの対して、本研究では、植民地支配・戦争の経験と記憶、人とモノが往来しつつも衝突する地域、交流し省察する知など日韓の諸関係を植民地主義と冷戦の側面から描き直し、既存の研究とは異なる日韓関係を提示すことができた。
