Outline of Annual Research Achievements

令和元年度は多数のトポロジカル欠陥によって支配される相転移現象・クロスオーバー現象の解析を行った。特にトポロジカル欠陥の1種である量子渦およびそれらの乖離・束縛によって引き起こされるトポロジカル相転移現象の可能性に着目した。トポロジカル欠陥は有限のエネルギーを持つ励起状態であり、クオークやハドロンなどの素粒子を記述するためのトイモデルとして扱われることもあり、量子渦の乖離・束縛はグルーオンによるクオークの閉じ込めを定性的に理解するために有効な模型として考えることができる。本研究では様々なトポロジカルな性質を持った量子渦、特に1つの整数量子渦が複数の分数チャージを持つ分数量子渦に分裂する状況を考えることのできる3つの模型:多成分ボース気体、スピノルボース気体、変形ゴールドストーン模型を解析し、分数量子渦の閉じ込め転移の可能性を考察した。その結果、量子渦のトポロジカル相転移としてよく知られているBerezinskii-Kosteritz-Thouless転移とは異なった、分数量子渦の閉じ込め・非閉じ込めによる転移あるいはクロスオーバーの存在を明らかにし、さらに分数量子渦は量子渦とは別種のトポロジカル欠陥であるドメインウォールによって閉じ込められることが分かった。この結果は分数量子渦とドメインウォールの関係がクオークとグルーオンとの関係に対応していることを意味しており、素粒子物理への新たな知見を与えることが期待される。
また素粒子の拡張標準模型に、位相的な磁気単極子が存在する事を示した。これは時期単極子に2本のZストリングがくっついている。Zストリングの張力が釣り合うと磁気単極子は安定に存在し、釣り合わないと思い方に引っ張られ光速近くまで加速することがわかった。
