Outline of Final Research Achievements

We synthesized magnesium porphyrin derivatives as electron donors used for small-molecule solution-processable organic thin-film solar cells. Especially, we synthesize these derivatives by using two or four diketopyrrolopyrroles (DPPs) organic dyes connected to the porphyrin cores through triple bonds. In bulk heterojunction organic thin-film solar cells using these porphyrins as electron donors and fullerene derivatives as electron acceptors, we achieved 7.40% power conversion efficiency. We also revealed that magnesium porphyrins have higher solubility and longer excitation lifetime than zinc congeners.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
