| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, the author has verified a significance of community-based art. The term "site-specific" is often employed to criticize public art. In contrast, "community-specific" is based on conversations with local residents. Community-specific art practices are not limited to temporary exhibition. Opening a creative space is an effective method to realize this concept. Citizens as non-artists continuously participate in art-based project in their ordinary lives, and they can show off their hidden creativity. Community-specific oriented artists can play an important role in regional cration to establish a place opened to anyone who shares common interests.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、日本各地で開催されているコミュニティ型アートプロジェクトや地域芸術祭について、従来の「サイト・スペシフィック」とは異なる評価軸を設定することで、地域創造に芸術が果たし得る役割を拡張することを試みた。すなわち、「もの」として設置された作品を鑑賞するだけではなく、地域住民が主体的に芸術実践に参加することができる関わり方の回路の拡張である。特に、一人ひとりの創造性を引き出すための「場所」のあり方について具体的な実践を踏まえた研究を行った。狭義の芸術を超えて、個人の生活やその複合体としての社会を自らの手でつくりあげていくことにこれからの芸術の社会的意義を見出すことができる。
