内部磁気圏EMIC波動を用いた超熱的エネルギーイオン分布の解明と将来観測への応用

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本年度は,2016年に打ち上げられたジオスペース探査衛星ERG(あらせ)に搭載したプラズマ波動観測器PWEによって取得されたデータを用いて,内部磁気圏で発生する電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動の観測例を収集した.観測された電磁界波形データを網羅的に周波数解析し,約一年間の定常観測期間におよそ200例の観測例があることを明らかにした.また,観測された電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動のダイナミックスペクトルに現れる微細構造(周期的に表れる周波数変動)の有無に着目し,大別される2種類の電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動の発生頻度分布の違いなどを議論した.その結果,磁気緯度毎・磁気地方時毎の発生頻度分布が微細構造の有無によって異なることが分かった.これらの違いは,2種類の電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動が発生する条件が異なることに由来していると考えられる.また,磁気緯度方向の分布の解明は,ERG(あらせ)の軌道が,磁気赤道域のみではなく低~中緯度帯まで観測可能であるために実現できた.他の衛星では実現不可能な観測であり,本研究ならではのユニークな成果であるといえる.本研究で得られた成果をもとに,観測されたEMIC波動の特性周波数解析を進め,大別された異なる特徴を持つ電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動の励起条件と,背景の超熱的エネルギーイオンの関係を明らかにしていくことが,内部磁気圏のプラズマ環境変動を紐解く鍵と成り得る.
