Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have developed a project-based learning (PBL) material on care robot production to support for dementia care in this research. The object of this research project is to propose an approach to help caregivers reduce their mental burdens by the visit of students to nursing facilities through this PBL and to motivate students majoring engineering toward social contribution. Students design and produce a care robot based on the concept of " weak robot" in this PBL. Additionally, students visit a nursing facility and demonstrate their robot there. Effectiveness of robot use to improving a symptom of dementia has been unclear yet. However, visit of students to a nursing facility seems to give the good impression to elderly people.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
