The purpose of this study is twofold. One of the purposes is to develop support programs for promoting the improvement of the quality in relationships between parents and infants. The other purpose is to help build parenting skills in today's society.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

今日、メディアの発達や社会環境の変化等による対人・モノとのかかわりの変化は子どもの発達に影響を与えている。特に言葉の遅れやコミュニケーションに課題がみられる。本研究は、今日の養育者のかかわりの変容と特性を明らかにするために、2017-18年の日本とアメリカの母親と1994-95年母親と9か月児との自由遊びを比較した。その結果、日本の母親の言葉かけは約二分の一、発話数語彙数もかなりの減少が見られた。今後、親子の関わりの質を高めるために、語り掛け、親の自己表現力、親子の相互性を高めるプログラムを開発し、実践していく必要がある。今後その成果を明らかにする予定である。
