Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research focus on home economics education and life improvement spread business in rural during high growth period in Japan. And it analysis the process of ‘rationalization ’in rural life. Furthermore, this research focus on the significance of life records written by rural women and group activities among rural women. And it examines life ‘improvement’ of rural women.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

生活記録やサークル活動に焦点を当てながら、農家女性たちの自律的な活動の意味を分析したことは、農村研究や戦後史研究、ジェンダー研究への貢献といえよう。また家庭科教育が行ってきた農村の生活改善の内実を実証したことは、社会学から家庭科教育学への知的貢献いえる。さらに家庭科のテキストを分担執筆し、ジェンダー研究が家庭科教育にどのように寄与してきたのかを一般向けに分かりやすく解説した。
