Outline of Final Research Achievements

Traditional industries,facing the danger of declining,have the potential to create new industries by making use of the cultural resources accumulated in the area.This can be achieved by integrating cultural resources as stories and rebuilding relationship with consumers as well as tourists.In this study,the example of ceramic production areas(Seto／Mino)was illustrated as having a cooperative division of labor with Nagoya,the export base of modern ceramic.The author made it clear that the possibility of industrial creation was assisted by an industrial tourism model in which culture and industry were fused.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

陶磁器産業の衰退要因として消費者との関係性が「貨幣を媒介した経済」関係に重点が置かれ、地域の文化資源ストックとの関係が希薄化したことにあることが分かった。地産の伝統産業は、その歴史的な過程の中で蓄積された文化資源を「物語」として編集して、消費者との接点を測る「物語観光」の推進により、時代に即応した産業（生業）として蘇生可能であることが分かった。すなわち、生産→文化（観光）→生産の循環を生む観光モデルである。それは、今日でも産業の基盤のある地域のみならず名古屋市のような産業の基盤が乏しくなった地域でも広域的な物語（意味づけ）によって、新たな生業を創造可能なことが、社会実験の過程で検証された。
