Outline of Final Research Achievements

“Mischtechnik” (mixed technique) is an established material and/or a practical technique widely introduced in the education of western painting in Japan. However, this is hardly true in other East Asian countries. Cases were studied to find how this technique has been handed down and practiced in German-speaking countries. This set the baseline for formula and practices that were used to review the technique developed in Japan. From the findings of this study, Mischtechnik might be a unique technique in terms of how it has been handed down and practiced limitedly in some German-speaking countries and Japan far apart from Europe.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
