The main research activities for the previous year were completing the recording and transcription of lessons from elementary school classes.

Reason
The plan is progressing relatively smoothly. Base data has been collected and summarized. The primary task ahead is writing up results.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This year will see the writing up of the following, and related topics: 1) a qualitative analysis of how teachers are using English to perform various discourse functions )how teachers use gestures and other means to get messages across 3) an analysis of team teaching roles as they are seen in real classes. Student test data (EIKEN STEP; BENESSE GTEC) and our own supplementary tests will be gathered.
