Outline of Final Research Achievements

Our study aimed to clear how individual economic activity expand and how the social and community characteristics change in rural Vietnam during doi-moi period in terms of migration. We planned to study from 2016 to 2020 but because of Covid-19, we extend to 2023. We had to change the plan, but we could continue to try going on the study and carry out the field survey in three areas in Vietnam (Bach Ninh province in the North, Thua Thien Hue province in the Central, Ben Tre province in the South). As a result of these field surveys and some analysis of population data, we could clarify the migration in rural area of Vietnam and its influences on rural community.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

2023年現在で、在日ベトナム人数は56万人を超え、中国に次いで二番目に多い。その意味で、ベトナムにおける人口移動の実態解明は、日本の労働力獲得といった点からも重要である。
