Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
For AY 2016, I was based at the Centre for International Studies (CIS) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where I gave a public lecture and research seminar. Research was carried out in three main countries: Italy, India and the UK. In Italy, I interviewed the International Organization of Migration (IOM) Head of Mission, Mr Federico SODA, and interacted with academics working on the Migration Crisis at the Eurpean University Institute in Firenze. In India, I carried out research on the Sikh and Muslim communities of Delhi and interacted with academics at Jamia Millia Islamia University and the University of Delhi. In the UK, I carried out research on the Sikh Diaspora and global migration crisis and interacted with academics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the LSE. Conference presentations were given at the International Studies Association (ISA) Asia-Pacific Region Conference in Hong Kong and the ISA Annual Convention in Baltimore, USA. Invited lectures were given in the UK at Aberystwyth University, Goldsmiths College, Kings College London, Kingston University, LSE and Newcastle University.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Progress was rather smooth but the manuscript for Cambridge University Press on Sikh Nationalism was slightly delayed due to the heavy administrative burden of my co-author. Prof. Gurharpal Singh, who is Dean of the Humanities at SOAS.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
There are three main plans for future work. The first is to finish revising an article for a Special Issue of Postcolonial Studies on 'Human Security as Ontological Security: A Postcolonial Approach'. It has already been accepted for publication pending revisions. The second and most important is to complete the manuscript for Cambridge University Press on Sikh Nationalism. This will require further work at the SOAS and British Libraries (India Office Collections in London. The final is to submit a proposal based on the research carried out on the Global Migration crisis for Rowman and Littlefield International. It is anticipated that the book will be written in the next academic year (AY2018).
