Outline of Annual Research Achievements

My main research achievement was the publication of a refereed article based on the theoretical implications of my research project in the journal Postcolonial Studies. The details are as follows: Giorgio Shani, "Human Security as ontological security: a post-colonial approach", Postcolonial Studies Volume 20, 2017, pp. 275-293. doi=10.1080/13688790.2017.1378062
I presented versions of the article before it was published in invited lectures at National Taiwan University and the University of Queensland.
Furthermore, I gave conference presentations at the World International Studies Conference at National Taiwan University,ROC the International Peace and Conflict Studies annual conference at Manchester University UK, and the Millennium Annual Conference at the London School of Economics, UK.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

Progress was rather smooth with the publication of a refereed article on my project for Postcolonial Studies but the manuscript for Cambridge University Press on Sikh Nationalism was slightly delayed because of my administrative duties as Chair of the Department of Politics and International Studies at ICU.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

The main research project for AY2018 will be the submission of the final manuscript to Cambridge University Press of a co-authored volume on Sikh Nationalism. A draft of the manuscript has been completed and I am revising it with my co-author, Prof. Gurharpal Singh (SOAS, University of London) for submission in September 2018. It will be published in AY2019.

In addition, I will present a paper on "From Ontological to Cosmological Security? Sikhi(sm) and Post-Western IR" at a workshop in Galapagos, Ecuador and at the ISA-FLACSO conference in Quito, Ecuador in July 2018.
