This Kaken proposal covered research in regard to outbound Japanese M&A> In geographical terms, Germany and Australia were seen as most appropriate destinations as the first investigator is German and a co-investigator Australian. Especially, human resource aspects were in the center of the research, highlithing the integration period at M&A.
I was able to get access as I wished at a German firm which was overtaken by a Japanese steelmaker. With this target firm, I already conducted two questionnaire rounds asking the employees at the German target how they feel about the Japanese acquisition.
Several papers and other contributions could get out of this research already and some others are to be submitted soon.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I got access to a German firm which was taken ober by a Japanese steelmaker and made several papers out of it already, some published, some forthcoming or sent to a journal soon.
In regard to Australian firms it was more difficult that I (and my co-author) thought to get access to firms.
In 2017 at a conference in Kuala Lumpur, I received the best paper award for a paper with data of that German firm investigated with the kaken support.
Overall, I think I deliver what I promised.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In Dec. 2018, I will go to Sydney again and try to receive access at firms which were taken over by Japanese firms. Also, I would like to go to Harvard again in August to have talks with colleagues over there at the Law school, ELAS section (East-Asian Legal Studies).
In June, 2018, I would like to attend IFSAM conference at Shanghai to present a paper about M&A.
