Outline of Final Research Achievements

This project aims to articulate conditions for effective provision of reasonable accommodations to disabled persons, and bring up significant perceptions to enable them through theoretical and practical researches. We clarify some functions of "undue burden" as a negative condition for providing reasonable accommodations, mainly through a case study about the business for tourism. Furthermore, we develop contents and technique of the educational programs (including e-learning courses and workshops) to contribute to inclusion of social minorities in various organizations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

障害差別禁止法制に関しては、それが障害者の参加機会に対して与える影響に着目した研究が社会福祉や社会保障法、労働法等の領域で蓄積されつつあるが、企業のパフォーマンスへの影響といった産業社会学的な観点からの関心はきわめて希薄である。本研究から得られる知見は、従来の福祉研究の片面的な課題設定を越えて、機会平等施策に対するより包括的で強力な根拠の提示につながる可能性を示すことになる。また、組織のダイバーシティとパフォーマンスを両立させるための実践的な介入の手法に踏み込んだ研究である点は、ダイバーシティ研究としての新規性も含んでいる。
