Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The development of the new policy of integrated community care, necessitates the development of versatile interprofessional (IP) education that can accommodate learners from different geographical locations with different daily work/study schedules. Therefore, the overall objective of this research project was to develop a model online training-program and the aim of the present study was to evaluate its quality of promoting learning for IP practice into integrated community care contexts. Social innovation and interprofessionalism informed the development of the online collaboration training program based on the Health Care Team Challenge format, including developing instruction manuals of the program for future public dissemination. Given limitations of validated evaluation instruments, in the Japanese context at the time this project was planned, the evaluation of the efficacy of the program was grounded in a realist approach (Pawson & Tilley, 1997; https://www.betterevaluation.org/en/approach/realist_evaluation). Data were obtained from 17 subjects, who voluntarily participated in 4 groups in 3 online study-sessions. Learning outcomes were pre/post-tested through subjects' self-assessment of readiness for IP learning and of IP skills, and afterwards through their reflective reports, complemented by evaluation of the program through a focus group discussion and a custom-made questionnaire. At the moment of writing data-analysis is being finalized.
