Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The modern reform of the secondary teacher education in the Great Britain was made mainly by the members of College of Preceptors(being almost comprised of schoolmasters) in the 19th century. This research has revealed how the discourse of the members of COP was like and what kind of practice was made by using the Educational Times (COP's official paper).The discourse about the reform of the secondary teacher education had come about mainly from 1870's with the discourse of "science of education" ,a prototype of pedagogy. In 1880's some training colleges were made in the Universities and in 1890's a training college of secondary teacher for men was made by the COP but it was closed soon. The reform of the secondary teacher education in the 19th century benefited mainly to the women students.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
イギリスの中等教育における近代的教職改革に関する研究は、国内外ともに少なかった。教職改革を中心的に行ったカレッジ・オブ・プリセプターズ(COP)に関する研究、オルドリッチによる初代教育学教授ペインを中心とした研究があるが、COP全体の言説空間についての研究はあまりなされていない。そこで本研究では、デジタル化されたEducational Times紙を用い、教育学の中身の創出と教職改革の言説空間を分析した。COPにおける議論が、制度の創出、維持につながっていたことを明らかにした。
