Outline of Final Research Achievements

(1) Through the reseraches in various libraries, archives and some scenes, we confirmed about 10～20ceses which the Ainu peoples established schools in Tokachi, Hidaka, and Iburi in Hokkaido and in Sakalin.
(2) And we announced the outcome which studied on these ceses by artickes and lectures.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究成果の意義は、先ず、北海道・サハリンの多くの地域における教育史の基礎的事実の発掘を行ったことにある。
研究史上の意義としては、従来のアイヌ教育史は政策史からのアプローチが多かったことに対し学校や教育に対するアイヌ民族の現実認識や将来への意思を探ることができた点に意義がある。
さらに社会的な意義としては、〈アイヌ民族を主体に据えたアイヌ史〉が求められている現在において、本研究は、アイヌ民族の意思や要求から近代アイヌ史を展望する具体的な手がかりを得た点に意義がある。
