Pressure-Induced Magnetically Ordered State and Critical Phenomena in the vicinity of the phase Transition of Single-Ground-State Quantum Mangnets

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、基底一重項磁性体における圧力誘起秩序相の秩序状態及び相転移点近傍での臨界現象を実験的に明らかにすることである。前年度までに行ったCsFeCl3の圧力下磁化・μSR・弾性中性子測定により、本物質では臨界圧力Pc=0.9 GPa以上の圧力領域で磁気秩序相が出現すること、及びその磁気構造が120°スピン構造であることが明らかになった。一方、常圧で磁気秩序を示す関連物質RbFeBr3の場合は、圧力印加により1.0 GPa以上の圧力領域で磁気秩序が消失することを明らかにした。これらの結果は、CsFeCl3と同様にRbFeBr3においても圧力印加が強磁性的な鎖内の交換相互作用を増強する役割を担うことを示している。最終年度である本年度は、CsFeCl3の圧力下非弾性中性子散乱測定により磁気励起の直接観測に成功した。臨界圧力Pc=0.9 GPa以下のスピンギャップ相では、圧力印加に伴い磁気励起のソフト化が観測された。これはギャップの大きさが圧力印加により抑制されていることの直接的な証拠であり、圧力下磁化測定の結果とも整合する。また、Pc以上の磁気秩序相においてはギャップを有する磁気励起とギャップレスな磁気励起の双方が観測された。この特異な磁気励起スペクトルの起源に関して、理論研究との比較議論を含めた内容を論文にまとめ学術雑誌への投稿を行った。加えて、基底一重項磁性体Ba2MSi2O6Cl2(M=Co,Cu)の中性子非弾性散乱測定の研究成果についても論文執筆・学術雑誌への投稿を行った。
