Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To achieve the practical use of high-energy density magnesium secondary batteries, we developed carbonate ester-based electrolyte solutions and positive electrode system. The resultant ester-based electrolyte solutions enabled repeated charge/discharge cycles of a magnesium negative-electrode and Mo6S8- and MnO2-positive-electrodes. Nano-sized MoS2 particles, which were synthesized by a heating reflux method, delivered a high specific capacity of about 180 mAh g-1.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
リチウムイオン二次電池のエネルギー密度を凌駕するマグネシウム二次電池を実用化するために、本研究ではマグネシウム負極に適合するエステル系電解液を開発し、正極材料開発の突破口を開く。これによりマグネシウム二次電池の研究開発基盤を大幅に拡大させることが可能になるため大きな意義があり、また、マグネシウムのイオニクスに新たな展開をもたらすことができるため学術面での波及効果も大きい。
