Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During this three year period, I was able to collect an additional 3 years of data for this project, which has ended up with 10 full years of monitoring data for the original in situ experiment. I analyzed these data and discovered that under moderate levels of sustained stress, plant fitness drops but also becomes much more variable. If stress levels are too high, then the fitness drop is sustained and not variable. I trained one graduate student in the statistical analysis of population dynamics and evolutionary demography. I also published one major paper that has become the most influential of my career, in the top international journal in ecology (Ecology Letters). This paper was the subject of articles in top newspapers in England, and in top popular science magazines in the US.
