Outline of Final Research Achievements

Comprehensive pathological analyses on gastric-type adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix and lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia was performed. Expression of various genes were evaluated in these lesions, and Claudin-18 was identified as a marker for gastric-type adenocarcinoma and lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

一般的に病理診断が難しいとされる子宮頸部腺系病変の領域において、Claudin-18は胃型病変と非胃型病変を鑑別する鋭敏なマーカーとなることが明らかになった。診断マーカーとしての意義に加えて、予後との相関を示せたことで、臨床的にも意義深いと考えられる。
