Outline of Final Research Achievements

A fundamental study was performed for developing large field of view general-purpose SPECT systems using a TlBr semiconductor detector. TlBr is a compound semiconductor suitable for fabricating low-cost and high-performance detectors. A large-area pixelated TlBr detector was fabricated in this study. The detector had the area of 14 mm x 14 mm on which 4 x 4 pixel electrodes (pixel size of 2 mm x 2 mm) were constructed. The thickness of the detector was 3 mm. The detector successfully detected gamma-rays from a 137Cs radiation source.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
