Japanese characteristics were analyzed with SEER(Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results) cancer database.
Relationships between pathological grades and gene expression levels were analyzed with ICGC(International Cancer Genome Consortium) breast cancer database.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

全体的に予後が良い早期癌の中でも早期に再発・転移して亡くなるケースがある。海外には大規模ながんデータベースがあり、それらを網羅的に解析することでその原因因子を推定することが期待できる。それらの因子がわかれば、早期癌においても積極的に補助療法を行うべきかどうか考慮することができる。また、原因遺伝子がわかれば、検査によって予後を推定したり、それをターゲットにした治療法の開発を試みるなど、早期癌で短期間で亡くなる人を減少させるための医学の進歩に貢献できる可能性がある。
