Outline of Final Research Achievements

Use of liver grafts from donors after cardiac death (DCD) is one of the ways to attenuate the organ shortage in clinical liver transplantation (LT). To introduce the DCD-LT in Japan, we conducted a study of porcine LT using DCD as a translational research. As a results, porcine model of DCD-LT operation has been established. In addition, the efficacy of pharmacological graft protection has been suggested in a rat DCD LT model.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
