Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have noted candidate genes (such as CHP1, PTGDS, PTRF, and CXCL12) contributing to the development of distant metastasis after complete resection of NSCLC.
Further biologic profiling may subsequently help to understand underlying mechanism of postoperative distant metastasis and ultimately lead to novel targeted therapy of NSCLC.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

肺癌術後再発に関連する候補遺伝子が同定されたことで、今後、これら候補遺伝子のさらなる解析・研究を行うことで、肺癌術後再発に対する予防的治療戦略、および肺癌に対する新規治療法の開発が期待される。
具体的には、免疫染色によるタンパク発現の確認、3次元病理解析によるinvasive frontとの空間的関係が解析されれば、肺癌術後再発の発生機構の解明につながる可能性がある。また、治療標的としての妥当性を、patient-derived xenograftなどで確認できれば、新たな治療戦略の構築につながる。
