| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究は、地球科学的アプローチから極微量元素分析や同位体組成分析を進めることによって、金属の新たな分析手法を確立しようとするものである。素材および製作工程各プロセスにおける生成物、製品に対して極微量元素分析や同位体組成分析を実施することにより、原料原産地分析を試み、新たな鉄の生産と流通論につなげることを目指すものである。
この目的を達成するために、前年度に続き、平成29年度は鉄原材料、製鉄炉構築材およびその原材料、製鉄条件（炉内温度、砂鉄と木炭投入量など）などが明確な製鉄実験を実施した。製鉄実験は岡山県新見市正田たたら場にて実施した。平成28年度は古代日本、とくに古墳時代の製鉄炉を想定したものであったが、今年度は東アジアさらに中央ユーラシアにおける比較研究を念頭に、古代朝鮮半島の製鉄炉を復元し実験を行った。製鉄実験では、各原材料と製品、鉄滓、最終的に残存した炉の一部を採取し、製鉄過程における元素・同位体の挙動を明らかにできる試料を得ることができた。これらの試料については、試料内の不均質がかなり大きいことが観察によって判明したため、その前処理方法について検討を行った。
また、遺跡出土の鉄関連資料の分析を実施した。得られたデータは、製鉄過程を把握できている前述の製鉄実験で得られた資料のデータと比較することで、過去の製鉄技術を復元につながる。今回はカザフスタン・アラト遺跡出土の鉄鉱石、鉄製品、鉄滓資料を分析し、考古資料として採取されたこれらの遺物の化学組成的な特徴を把握した。
さらには、台湾・中央研究院の歴史語言研究所収蔵の金属器資料に関して、地球科学的高精度分析を実施するための打ち合わせを相互訪問により行い、東アジア全体の中での金属器の生産と流通を解明するための研究土台を構築した。
