Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We applied well known paleomagnetism to a nanometer-scale mineral in a meteorite for determination of temperature and magnetic field at the time of formation of nano-minerals in a mother asteroid of carbonaceous chondrite 4.6 billion years ago based on magnetic remnant observed using the electron holography. We successfully visualized a magnetic remnant of individual nano-minerals, which has been hidden in a total bulk value in case of traditional bulk analysis. We focused on magnetite particles in a carbonaceous meteorite and successfully determined its formation temperature in their parent body based on in-situ electron holography observation in a heating experiment.
