Outline of Annual Research Achievements

直径が数10~100ミクロンサイズのカプセル型燃料電池(μ-FC:micro-fuel cell)を作製し、アルコールやグルコースなど液体燃料環境下において自己発電させることで、工業用微粒子の新規凝集構造や生体内赤血球などの凝集性に効果的な作用を発現させることを目的としている。この燃料電池素子は、液体内固体表面に生じるゼータ電位に匹敵する数10mV程度の電位を常時発生できる。微小固体間のクーロン相互作用により、凝集性、粘性、混合などの特製制御を行い、新規の素材およびシステム創出へと発展する。
今年度は3次元マイクロ光造形装置を用いて、カプセル作製と最適化を行い、50ミクロン径のカプセル作製が可能となった。カプセル内へマイクロチューブネットワークを付与することを現在試みている。マイクロチューブ内を液体燃料がスムーズに流れることが必要となってくる。さらには、液体燃料に由来する毛管力による構造劣化や破壊が危惧される。これらは、有限要素法による応力分布解析により、構造的に不利な点を抽出しながら解決を目指している。
今後、本研究では、カプセル型燃料電池素子を創出し、従来にない高精度に制御された微粒子凝集素材、センシングシステム、医療応用分野に挑戦するとともに、多くの電子デバイス、バイオ制御、ディスプレイ、光学素子制御等の新規産業分野に技術展開させていく。

Reason

当初の予定通り、数々のプロセス最適化を実施したことで、カプセル作製が完了している。今後、電池としてのセル構造を作製していく。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

マイクロチューブとの結合を促進し、カプセル内へ燃料電池アレイ素子をマウントし、実効的な動作を確認する。マイクロマニピュレータを用いて、カプセル内のアセンブリを行っていく。

Causes of Carryover

マイクロカプセルの加工に際し、現有の装置で実施可能であったため、次年度へ繰り越して、さらなる微細化への検討を進めるため。

Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget

高解像のレジスト材料の導入を加速して、マイクロカプセルサイズをさらに縮小させる。
