Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to develop molecular probes enabling cancer-targeted photoacoustic imaging and cancer therapy, we newly synthesized trastuzumab (anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody)-conjugated liposome containing iron oxide nanoparticles (IONP) (Tra-IONP-liposome). The observation using transmission electron microscopy revealed many IONPs were encapsulated in the aqueous phase of liposomes. The Tra-IONP-liposome exhibited the intense photoacoustic signals, and could bind HER2-positive cancer cells HER2-specifically. Furthermore, this probe produced heat enough for cytotoxicity effect by irradiation of near-infrared light.
