Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We tried to search for compounds that inhibit uric acid (UA) production in an in vitro assay system employing the cultured hepatocytes in order to quest novel factors in foods and natural resource effective for prevention and remediation of hyperuricemia. We found several candidates and attempted to examine the effects of them on antihyperuricemia in the model mice by purine-bodies administration. As a result, taxifolin, isorhamnetin and urolithin A dose-dependently and significantly suppressed the increase in plasma UA concentration. They demonstrated to show antihyperuricemic effect by directly suppressing xanthine oxidase activity.
